Abstract

This academic work dealt with the revival of Islamic theology, also known tajdīdilm al-kalam. It comprised of three sections: the first gave a brief introduction to Islamic theology and its development; the second highlighted the need of its revival, and the third suggested a brief methodological framework for its revival. By employing descriptive and qualitative research method the study established that ancient literature on Islamic theology has been absolutely discarded as it is failed to fulfill the present needs of Islamic thought. Neither had it tendency to prove Islamic beliefs nor to satisfy the rational and scientific mind of 21st century. It is therefore essential to revive Islamic theology by using modern scientific and logical means instead of ancient logic and philosophy which has been replaced by modern science. In this connection the researcher sketched out a brief methodological framework for Islamic theology of modernity (jadidilm al-kalam) by giving some suggestions in the light of literature cited.
