Abstract

This study deals with a specific research problem, which is the hadith of Abū Huraira in Sahih al-Bukhāri, which is the most authentic compilation among the classical canonical books of hadith. Imam al-Bukhāri narrated through his Isnād from Abū Huraira that he heard from the messenger of Allah: "Whoever sees me in a dream will see me in his wakefulness, and Satan cannot imitate me in shape." The Sūfī and Deobandī school of thought took this hadith as essential evidence in the seeing of the Prophet wakefulness in this world. Therefore, it is vital to investigate the authentication of the mentioned text of hadith and its real conception. Consequently, the study contains on the collection and analyses of its all Isnads which go back to Abū Huraira, as well as, its different Mutūn in the classical canonical books of hadith. Because Abū Huraira is not its only source of transmission from the Prophet (PBUH), there are several other companions of the Prophet, who narrated the same hadith in the same subject too. Moreover, the study deals with the contextual meaning of the mentioned hadith according to the prominent Muhadditūn.
