Abstract

This article provides an overview of theological concepts and their way of description in explanatory Hadith book Fath-Ul-Mulhim. Fath-UL-Mulhim is written by Molana Shabir Ahmad Uthmani. It is explanation of Sahi Muslim. The book covers many topics releated Fiqh, Hadith, Hadith sciences, and theology. Theology is the study of the nature of God and religious belief. Ilm al-kalam literally Science of discourse usually foreshortened to kalam and sometimes called “Islamic scholastic theology” or “speculative theology” established to defend the Islamic faith against doubters and detractors. This paper provides a critical review about the writing style of Islamic theological concepts in Fath-UL-Mulhim. There are debates against kharijites, Mu’tazila, Jahmiyyah, Qadariyyah, Murji’ah, Atheists. Ash’ari and Maturidi school of thoughts are also discussed. The study of Theological concepts is necessary for scholars so they interpret the true meanings of creed and save it from blending other philosophical concepts. Critical study of different sects is usefull from book Fath -Ul-Mulhim because Molana Shabir Ahmad Usmani put forward arguments from Quran, Hadith, Salf Salehin, and also presents rational arguments.
