Abstract

The halal industry -as whole- is currently facing so many issues; some of which are related to administrative matters, and some are related to Shariah and needed to be addressed for research. From the research point of view, the significant and complex issue that needs to be discussed with urgency is issue of “Inqilab al ‘Ayn” or “Istihalah”. Istihalah or Inqilab al ‘Ayn is an Arabic word and Jurisprudential term, which means transmutation or transformation.
The mostly Fuqaha’( Muslim Jurists) accept that the Istihalah – specially in modern chemical industry - is a main caused and reason for changing the Shariah ruling of many things.
For Istihalah or State Change there is no fixed Shariah rule, any change where the state is being converted could lead to such change of state.
This paper discusses animal feed in Halal perspective by highlighting the Halal and Haram integrity concerns over different feed impure compositions and addressing them through the Islamic rulings discussed by various Muslim Fuqaha’.
It is also tries to investigate the some issues related to the topic in comprehensive way, like: Jallalah/جلّالة (An animal which looks for filth and impurity, such as faeces, and eat it) and status of animals and fish which are breeded with impure feed, whether they fall in category of Jallalah or not, and finally discussion about state change status for such animals meat and other animal derived ingredients.
