Abstract

Slaughter is defined as to kill animals by any means and “slaughter-house” means any building or sites used for slaughtering the animals and permitted by the local authority concerned. This is duty of the “Veterinary Officer” to control their appropriateness for slaughtering or where animals permitted for slaughtering are contained until they are removed to the slaughter-house.Veterinary Officer under the “administrative control of Livestock and Dairy Development Department of the Government”. “Veterinary Officer or a gazetted officer” arresting or causing the arrest of any individual, or seizing or causing the seizure of any animal, carcass. A slaughterhouse or abattoir is a facility where animals are slaughtered for consumption as food for humans. Slaughterhouses that process meat not intended for human consumption. Slaughtering animals on a large scale poses important logistical problems, animal wellbeing problems, public health requirements, and environmental problems. Due to public hatred in many cultures, determining where to build slaughterhouses is also disturbing. Always keep away from harām animal or of an animal which died of, or has suffered from transmissible diseases or has been poisoned to death, or died because of gunshot wound or electrocution. Meat or carcass of any animal which has been slaughtered in contravention does not bear the stamp, mark, tag or certification of the slaughter-house specified by the concerned local authority. These slaughterhouses were regulated by law to ensure good standards of hygiene, the prevention of the spread of disease and the minimization of needless animal cruelty. The slaughterhouse had to be prepared with a specialized water supply system to effectively clean the operating area of blood and offal. The slaughterhouse should be located away from residential zones. Access for animals-either by road, rail and/or stock route- must be guaranteed. The slaughterhouse should be situated in areas where flooding is impossible. An abundant supply of potable water as well as suitable facilities for treatment and disposal is important. The land acquired for the suggested slaughterhouse should be sufficient to permit future expansion as overcrowding of facilities may give sanitation problems. Examination of the stock-yard & Slaughter houses is must for Halāl eating. Any person intending to slaughter an animal in slaughter-house shall produce the animal in the stock yard for inspection at any time during the hours fixed by the local authority concerned for inspection.
