Abstract

This research paperintended to explore the nature of relationship between teachers and students in contemporary education system. The investigation was triggered by observing unsatisfactory relationship between teachers and students. The research was carried out at secondary school level in private schools of Rawalpindi region. The data was collected from 130 students and 130 teachers with the help of questionnaires which were described, tabulated, and visualized by tables and graphs. The research found that the relationship between teachers and students was not satisfactory. It was also observed that teachers’ relationship with the students was comparatively better whereas students behaved rudely and impolitely with their teachers. In the light of the research it is recommended that the teachers and students should be given awareness of their rights and responsibilities towards each other. For that, it would be helpful to take guidance from golden educational Islamic era in which an exemplarily relationship could be seen between teachers and students. This work out will be useful in establishing the strong positive relationship between teachers and students which will produce better academic results as well as improve the quality of education. Moreover there is an immediate need to take special measures for restoring the respectful status of teachers as it is explained in the Islamic education system.
