Abstract

In recent years, the media have played a great role in the society. It has a high influence on the way people think and behave in a society. In western media there is a disproportionate amount of coverage connected to Islam and Muslims. Media tended to present Muslim and Islam in a negative light. The religion and its followers are often presented through a series of ‘snap-shots’ that serve only to highlight differences and portray Islam as a threat. Western media tends to capture the Muslim minds. It tries to spread doubts about Islamic beliefs by highlighting different aspects of life such as women's liberty in Islam, Islam is against modernism. So, how should the Muslim world respond to this? This research article is an attempt to  awaken the Muslim Ummah to present the real picture of Islam by using new tools and sources of media. It is very important for the media of Islamic countries to be committed to enjoining the good and forbidding the evil. Given the limitations and principles set by Islam for freedom of expression, the propaganda campaign of the Western media should be given a reasoned and concise answer. Instead of programs based on obscenity, such programs should be conducted which are within the limits of the golden principles laid down by the Qur'an and the Holy Prophet (PUBH)for the improvement of society and to face and tackle the media related challenges of contemporary time.
