Abstract

Unlike other religion, Islam is not only a religion, but a code of life which has its own social, economic and political system. In many verses of the Quran, It has been emphatically instructed that Muslims not to acquire each other’s property by any false means or illegal way. Interest is one of those means, which are considered illegal and strictly prohibited in Islam, and many other religions. The main objective of this paper is to discuss the prohibition of interest in the holy Quran the Bible and Vedas. The Paper also focused that why Jews and Christians adopted interest despite of fact that Interest is strictly prohibited in their- religions. The paper concluded that interest was adopted by Jews when their religious leaders started practicing Usurious transaction among each other’s. The study is theoretical and analytical in nature.
