Abstract

The blessed biography of the Holy Prophet ﷺ serves as the ultimate source of guidance for humanity. This is why Allah Ta'ala granted him the unique distinction of having every aspect of his life—whether personal, social, or political—preserved in its entirety. The Islamic perspective on studying his biography differs significantly from a general historical approach. For Muslims, learning about the life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is not merely an academic pursuit but a religious obligation and a vital necessity.

Throughout human history, no individual’s life has been documented as extensively as his. Scholars from every era and region have dedicated their efforts to writing about his life, each contributing according to their abilities. Among these contributions, one of great significance is the work of the 7th-century scholar Muhammad bin Sayyid al-Nas (may Allah have mercy on him), titled Oyoon al-Athar fi Funoon al-Maghazi wa al-Shama’il wa al-Seer.

This book is a comprehensive account of the Prophet’s ﷺ biography. In it, the author beautifully chronicles the events of his life before prophet hood, gathering all the prophetic virtues. This work also provides a research-based study of these accounts to distinguish truth from falsehood. Among these events, the focus of this paper is on the unusual ones.
