Abstract

Malik bin Nabi is considered as a great Muslim Philosopher of 20th century. By establishing a link between the problems faced by Muslims and their civilization, he has inferred that the solution of their multifaceted problems lie in correcting their direction/path. Stagnation in intellectual realm rather than lack of resources, according to the said philosopher, is the reason of their backwardness in the world. He has written more than 30 books on as diverse topics as the unity in Ummah, progress and development, prosperity; and has also written on modern topics like economics and culture- to count the few.
Besides, his contribution in exploring modern ideologies like materialism, Marxism, communism, orientalism and democracy. Furthermore, he has done seminal contributions by explaining the ideologies and methodologies of key Muslim scholars who were working for Muslim renaissance.
This article is an effort to explain and analyze the renaissance movements of 20th century from the perspective of Malik Bin Nabi. Extracts have been taken from the writings of the said Muslim philosopher.
