Abstract

In order to Islamize the laws in Pakistan in accordance
with the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Quran and
Sunnah it is imperative that the policy maker must have access
to the primary sources of Islamic law covering all schools of
thoughts. However, the literature on Fiqh is generally in
Arabic. To facilitate the policy makers and common readers,
the Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic
University, Islamabadhas translated the original work from
Arabic in to Urdu language. The objective of this study is to
evaluatetranslated work in the field of Islamic economics and
to critically assess the level of translation. After a review of
“SilsilaTarajamMasadar e Islami” related to Islamic
economics the paper concludes that it was a very important and
unique project of IRI which should continue by reprinting after
review. However the paper highlighted some important issues
in the translation.
