The Impact of the hadith of the Prophet, in repelling the illusion of contradiction between the Qur’anic verses in the light of the Rooh-ul-Maani

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the application of removing of confliction among verses of Qur’an through the hadith literature along with its examples in the prominent commentary of Qur’an known as rūḥ al-maʿānī by imām al-ʾālūsī one of the great scholars of the thirteenth century. He explained the contradiction through the hadiths of the Prophet, and selected the rational approach in repelling the illusion of contradiction between the Qur’anic verses. This area of Study is very complicated and difficult, therefore, the commentators of Qur’an mostly avoid it, but imām al-ʾālūsī has mostly tried to discuss the point of view of his predecessor along with declaring the preferred solution of contradiction. Likewise, sometimes he has tried to solve the conflict by himself as well. This research work tried to explain the method of imām al-ʾālūsī in this regard and its application from his commentary.
