Abstract

In Islam, the term of Khilafat is a broader term that refers to the leadership of Muslim community established after the demise of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who believes that sovereignty is only for Allah and he will govern the Muslims community as Khalifah (caretaker) by enforcing Islamic Shariah to the land. Dr. Israr and Maulana Maududi are the two renowned Muslim scholars who have their own individual concepts of Khilafat. The aim of this paper is to explore and also compare the concepts of the Khilafat of these two scholars to find the similarities and differences between these two individual ideologies regarding khilafat. In this regards focus will be that how these two scholars define the term Khilafat? Is the present system of governance compatible with Islamic concept of Khilafat? What are their concepts of Islamic State in the specific scenario of Pakistan? What are the rights of non-Muslims in Pakistan? How this concept of Khilafat will be practically implemented in Muslim community? What will be the role of Muslim women in the Islamic state where Khilafat will be implemented?
