Abstract

Islamic law is valid at all times and places, whether directly or indirectly, and it is ready to solve and deal with any classical and contemporary issues.
Euthanasia is Greek’s word which means good death. And it is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma, or is the act of killing someone who is very sick or very old so that they do not suffer any more. It is also physician-assisted suicide refer to take action deliberately rid off a life, so that he can get relieve from long suffering. And many communities are against this phenomenon and it may result to death or jail sentence.
Euthanasia is one of contemporary cases which people eager to know the legal ruling of law in both Islamic and in western law. It has been a controversial and emotive case.
This paper discusses the meaning of euthanasia and tries to examine different opinions of prominent scholars about it and bring out the conclusion. It is also tries to investigate the some cases related to the topic in comprehensive way, like resuscitation devices, physician-assisted suicide, Passive euthanasia, active euthanasia, voluntary and non-voluntary euthanasia, Refusing treatment, and other aspect related to this phenomenon.
