Abstract

The Qur’ān is the word of Allah, an absolute treasure of various sciences. Mufassirin (Interpreters) have endeavoured immensely for its Interpretation. Several scholars have worked in this respect from multiple dimensions with one sole objective to facilitate understanding of the Qur’ān. Syntax is one of the few basic sciences that is directly related to understanding the Qur’ān. There are so many places in the Qur’ān where it becomes challenging to understand the actual meaning without mastering grammar. Therefore, most of the mufassirin (Interpreters) in their tafāsīr (Exegesis) have quoted difficult and complex grammatical issues to elaborate the true meaning of the verses. Details of Syntax significantly impact the understanding of the Qur’ān. Qazī Abū S‘aūd has also embellished his tafsīr entitled Irshād ul ‘Aql is Salīm with the syntactic view. He mentions short grammatical opinions only to explain the meaning instead of grammatical considerations in his tafsīr. This research paper elaborates the description and impact of Syntax in the meaning of the Quranic verses. Presenting various scholars of this subject, the researcher illustrates the point of view from Qazī Abū S‘aūd concerning Syntax of the verse. Besides discussing the distinct aspects of each example, the article provides substantial information about the significance and impacts of Syntax in understanding the Qur’ān. Such research on Quranic studies expands the exposure of the young researchers for deep learning of Quranic Sciences and its prerequisites. Moreover, it also opens up novel avenues of Interpretation of the Qur’ān.
